Emergent Forest is a non-profit organization based in Providence, Rhode Island. We are a network of artists, earth-workers and care-givers collaborating with the ecosystem of trees and pollinators to re-vision the death and dying process, while reforesting our cities. We plant urban food-forests that commemorate the lives of our beloved ancestors with fruit-bearing trees. We empower urban communities with educational resources on green burial alternatives, connect youth with elders, and tend the cycles of life and death through art, storytelling, and ritual. In our mission to become better members of our ecosystems, we ask, “How do you want your body to return to Earth?” to the living, the dying, and the dead.
